Election 2014: Some Facts


 2014 elections was too broad in many ways. The number of voters reached record levels and first time voters had the option of Nota. A look at some facts.

  • Polling for 16th Lok Sabha in ten steps. It was the first nine stages. But in the middle of a stage was added.

  • According to Election Commission  81 crore 45 lakh voters in the poll said.

  • 42 crore 66 lakh male voters  and 38 crore 79 lakh  female voters. 

  • The last elections in 2009 as compared to the number of voters increased by 10 million.

  • The number of first-time voters to vote in the elections 2 Crore to 30 lakh.

  • Nine million thirty thousand of the election polling stations were built.

  • 14 million Electronic Voting Machines were used in the Lok Sabha elections.

  • Nota was an option in the Lok Sabha elections for the first time.

  • India, using Nota  become the 12th country of the world .

  • Indian National Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, is contesting 462 seats ever time of most seats .
